Winter is defnitely on in so many places around the northern hemisphere, so let us indulge ourselves a little more in the beauty of the season and all the benefits offered by it. After Switzerland, we are taking a huge step to the Far East, the point of connection still being Danish modernist design.
Danish design icon Finn Juhl’s elegant and timeless pieces have captured the imagination and taste of so many people – including myself – and luckily, the designers behind OneCollection have been granted the opportunity to produce Finn Juhl’s beautiful design pieces in 1998, by the master’s widow.
And how did these pieces end up in faraway Japan? It’s simple. The company manufactures some pieces of the Finn Juhl range in the country and when the founders – while vacationing in Japan -, were looking for a house to buy, they chanced upon this hotel for sale in Hakuba, one of the 1998 winter Olympics venues. So they purchased and reconstructed it and now the facility functions as an exquisite Finn Juhl boutique hotel packed with the design icon’s most exquisite pieces. Shall we take the tour?
