Colonial Meets Nordic In A Danish Home

I am particularly fond of this home, because it reminds me of such good memories. On one hand I noticed a book about Karen Blixen, or Baroness von Blixen, if you like. She is one of my favourite Danish authors and I don’t think there’s anyone among the people I know who haven’t seen the movie Out of Africa with beloved Meryl Streep and Robert Redford (OMG!) in the lead roles, about the incredible life of this strong woman and fabulous storyteller. On the other hand, about a year ago, I had the chance to visit the Blixen Museum in Rungsted Kyst, a lovely family home that evokes the long years the owner had spent on the plantation in Africa.
This home is like a setting for the movie. Full of stunning colonial furniture, dark wood, leather travel boxes, lush colours, tribal motives, I can almost hear the sound of the drums and sense the presence of the elephants … Yet, there are signs that we are in a contemporary setting, with calm and reserved, but unmistakably Nordic details. The apartment belongs to the owners of Cofur.
I simply love this place.
Let’s take the tour.
