When you think of Norway, you picture something like this in your mind. Bright colours, sharp contours, blue sky, deep blue fjords, vibrant green fields and white or red houses balancing on the rocks. The archipelago in south Norway is a long line of dreamy little islands stretching along the coastline, with lots of invitingly pretty and mainly white summer houses.
But this land has so many faces and if you are eager to experience its beauty beyond the intense and vibrant summer, just wait and you’ll see how graceful and calming it can be, when temperatures drop drastically and every fjord turns into a still life. Even the brave swans, who probably last longest in these harsh circumstances, are looking for warmer waters.
I walk down to the pier on a Sunday morning, with a cup of hot coffee to keep me warm. And just listen … and take in the scenery. Such a good way to start the day …
Have a lovely week.
