Wow! I am speechless. Just a few weeks ago I posted a little bit similar weekend villa in Denmark. That one was standing on feet. This time the architect and the owner had something even more spectacular in mind: how about positioning this luxurious glass and wooden box on one of the huge round rocks the Stockholm Skärgården is so well-known for?
The magnificent villa was finished in 2016 and the main construction materials are Siberian larch, zinc and grey steel. To have a full and undisturbed view of the house though, you must walk through the woods and up the hill, but it’s worth the little exercise. From the top, one has a 270 degree panorama of the beautiful archipelago.
Both outside and inside the house is an homage to modern, sleek architecture. The outer shell has an organic texture and the colours of the building blend into the environment. Inside we see an elegant and cool décor, predominantly white, yet very simple, the intent most probably being to draw attention to the decorative items, which add a pop of colour to the overall calm scheme.
Naturally I have noticed my all-time favourites, the Södermalm sofa from Ikea.
